The Sentido hat is knit in the round in 1x1 rib, to be worn with a folded brim. There is a colorwork section worked in mosaic knitting.

I suggest knitting the inside of the folded brim in the contrasting color in order to spare a few meters of the main color. This section will not be visible while wearing the hat.

Sizes

The pattern is written for 3 sizes: child[adult M, adult L].

  • Unstretched circumference: 34[39, 44]cm /13⅓ [15⅓ , 17⅓]''
  • Maximum stretch circumference: 50[57, 63]cm / 19¾[22½, 25]''
  • Height with folded brim: 24[26.5, 28]cm / 9½ [10½, 11]''

My samples are sizes adult M.

The size “child” is recommended for children; the size “adult M” is recommended for teenagers and adults with a head circumference smaller than 57cm/22½’’; the size “adult L” is indicated for head circumferences larger than 57cm/22½’'.

Materials

Yarn

Fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colors:

  • MM: 40[50, 60]g / 180[225, 270]m / 197[246, 295]yd
  • CC: 20[25, 30]g / 90[112, 135]m / 99[123, 148]yd

On the blue/yellow sample, size M, I used 45g of the blue color yarn and 18g of the yellow one (knitted swatch included).

Yarn used on the samples

  • Blue/Yellow version: Kaos Yarn Organic Soft Merino, colorways Electric 1062 (MC) and Optimistic 1011 (CC).

  • Green/Orange version: Kaos Yarn Organic Soft Merino, colorways Courageous 1022 (MC) and Magnetic 1084 (CC).
